Belmont’s Teen Wellness Retreat

#GoodforMEdia facilitated the workshop on “Supporting Healthy Engagement with Technology and Social Media” at the Teen Wellness Retreat in Belmont. They enjoyed connecting with local youth around their experiences with tech and how to build healthier relationships with it.

allcove Network Conference: Reimagining Youth Mental Health

#GoodforMEdia youth advisors were honored to present at the third allcove network conference! During their workshop, “Supporting Healthy Engagement with Technology and Social Media with #GoodforMEdia,” they led a thoughtful discussion on the impact of social media on our mindsets and daily lives, and how to better support our peers.

We hosted our first Media Literacy Week Campaign, in alignment with the National Association for Media Literacy (NAMLE) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), to highlight the power of media literacy education and its essential role in navigating the complex media landscape. Youth had the opportunity to engage in a series of challenges to help strengthen their media literacy.

Maker Day took place on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 3:30-6:30pm at allcove San Mateo. This special event invited young people, ages 13-22,  to come together and share about the ways they navigate the online world.

#GoodforMEdia’s Vicki Harrison served as an expert panelist for “Looking Back and Moving Forward: Children’s Pandemic Experiences and Where to Go From Here”.  This interdisciplinary panel of experts discussed the physical, mental, and social impacts of Covid-19 for young people and provided advice to support youth through the next phase of the pandemic.
